From Divine to Plenty
Tiny Autumn Poems part 3 24/11 to 30 /11 2024
Day 18 Divine
The divine spark is in each one of us
how we nurture it is our choice
we can smother the inner glimmer
with the dross of despair
or cloak it in clouds of doubt and envy
or, if we wish
we can fan our spark into a blazing flame
with hope, and love, and gratitude
until we set our world alight
and each soul sees clearly
who they truly are.
Day 19 Climber
His climbing skills are extraordinary
his ingenuity always amazes me.
I tried hard to keep the bird-food safe
I even tied the feeder to the line.
Next day I watched him shimmy up the post
and delicately walk the length of wire
he then hung upside down, suspended by his toes
and feasted on the peanuts joyfully.
Day 20 Wisdom
“One who thinks she knows, knows not;
One who thinks she knows not, knows.”
Sri Guru Gita v40
Let me be one who thinks she knows not
and in the not knowing
be open to understanding.
Let me keep the wonder of beginner’s mind
and the thirst for knowledge
so I may drink long
at the fountain
and still be thirsty.
Day 21 Stillness
Not a ripple stirs the water
nor a whisper plays the breeze
the lake is calm and tranquil
even air will barely breathe
I would hold this time forever
in the stillness of our love
as I sense your arms enfold me
from the echoes of your loss
Day 22 Fallen
I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole, again!
I only picked my phone up for a minute
looking for a WhatsApp from my son
then I saw a headline which intrigued me
before I knew it, half an hour was gone:
an essay from a writer I admire
a stunning pic of orcas in the sea
a re-stack from a friend who I’m supporting
which simply could not be ignored.
I had to write a comment, and then check
how many views and likes I’ve had today
which lead me to researching a new Substack
from a woman in Hawaii who knows all
about the changing patterns of the rain
and suddenly my morning’s almost over
I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole, again!!
Day 23 Passage
Within the pages of this book
I wish to find a passage
that offers an enticing hook
to draw me in more deeply
and as the plot slowly unfolds
with all its twists and spirals
the characters will come to life
I’ll see and hear them clearly
so, when I turn the final page,
and sigh with satisfaction,
I’ll know the story reached its goal
and entertained me to perfection.
Day 24 Plenty
Final day!!
There is plenty of room at the table
for all to be welcomed with love
there is plenty of food in the markets
so no one should have to go short
there are plenty of great way to honour
the one light that shines in us all
so why in this world do we suffer
and keep ourselves feeling so small?
With gratitude to
for her daily prompts, and to the #SoulCircle community for some fabulous poetry. I am amazed how a first line will appear in my mind after holding one word, any word I think, for a short while. Because I made an intention to write a poem every day for the past 24 days, I feel I’ve nourished my inner poet, and it’s been a lot of fun. Thanks for reading my final seven poems. I really appreciate your presence and your light.
With love,
Josie

“One who thinks she knows, knows not;
One who thinks she knows not, knows.”
Sri Guru Gita v40
Thanks for this quote and the poem about beginners mind very much resonates, living again on the land and in community…

Salaams!
“The Divine spark! Light it with Love and set it ablaze!”
What a stunningly vivid and soul-stirring image. I can almost see it, not just with my mind’s eye but with the vision of my heart. It feels alive, glowing, radiating warmth and purpose.
Thank you for sharing something so profound—it lingers like a whisper of inspiration in the depths of the soul.
