And the wild god smiled his lips unfurled the ocean rippled in her bed rose up and drowned us all in briny laughter—drenched and dripping we danced on wild as water, wild as wind feet pounding earth blood on fire—the very stars hid behind their veils of sorrow. and, deep in the caverns of the earth, creatures awoke from sleep began before the birth of time ‘Ahhh—the dance is now’ they growled and grunted, knowing all, forgetting nothing they crawled and slithered on to land rivers trembled in their wake. lone white stag primeval boar wise salmon and the brindled cow all joined the dancing prancing hoard. pounded rhythms into blood and wrote in ink of dreams the many mysteries of life that never saw the dawn of now forgotten, yet remembered. The dance went on and silently the birds sat still beneath the flowering of the bough the blossoming apple the seed un-spilled the secrets written in the sand. The dance went on the horned one, awoken now, girded in the green of life thorned and speared, his molten eyes alighting on the sleeping queen took out his hollowed bow fired his arrow, flaming now, into the heart. And silence fell and all were still.
